10 Best Mascaras

Every now and then I might go out without makeup but mascara is essential. And, of course on a night out- the more mascara the better. The amount of mascara I have bought within the year is countless. Many, was a disappointment and was left dried-up in my makeup counter. Sometimes wearing false lashes is just a bit too much work so having the perfect mascara to pop out my lashes is so essential. There are a particular few that was worthy of repurchasing, here is my top 10 best mascaras.

10. Younique 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara

This is a two-part mascara, one is the gel and the other is black fiber lashes. It is simple to use, one coat of the gel, one coat of the fiber, and seal it with another coat of the gel. It gives a great effect of “false lashes” x natural mascara. It’s nuemor 10 on my list because 1. It gets a bit flaky mid-day and since I wear contact lenses, when the fiber gets in my eye, I start tearing and obviously my mascara/eyeliner starts dripping. 2. I have heard that if this mascara is used on daily base, it starts thinning out one’s lashes. So, I definitely save this one for special occasions. (Image)

9.Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara by Lancôme

I am so fond of the brush of this mascara. The triangular shape makes it accessible for the pointed tip to fit into corners of my lashes. The squarer end of the brush coats my outer lashes. It is not a very wet formula which doesn't do too too much for a dramatic look.

8.Scandaleyes Mascara by Rimmel London

In my top 10 mascara collection, there are two drug store brands. The reason I love Scandaleyes is how well it works in terms of lengthening my lashes. It is not my go to for a daily use, but on a night out where my makeup is more dramatic and sexy, this mascara can literally make my lashes 5 times longer. I also like using this for my lower lashes, the bristle helps separate it nicely (if only the brush a bit smaller). (Image)

7. Little Black Primer by Estee Lauder

I often find that primer can be used alone to tint lashes for a natural understated look but also used underneath mascara to amplify lash length. It helps boost the performance of regular mascaras. I also use it over the top of mascara to set lashes for a water-resistant and flake-proof finish. (Image)

6. Lash Potion by Revlon

This mascara tends to be a little bit more expensive than other drug store mascaras and it smells a bit funny... but nevertheless it doesn't stop me from using it. This mascara doubles the volume of my lashes and add length that is noticeable but not glam. It also has a "potion" part to help grow lashes (don't see a BIG change, but as long as it doesn't dry/break my lashes). For the price, I am fairly impressed with the volume, length and growth benefits. (Image)

5. Aqua Smoky Extravagant by Make Up For Ever

This is one of my summer favorites; it makes my lash look very black and easy to wash off. It gives me a very smoky look. The fun shape wand helps coat all the lashes together. My lashes are full on voluptuous after applying one layer. The reason this is my summer fav is because it is waterproof so this is my go to for a day at the beach or the pool side. (Image)

4. Lush Lash by Urban Decay

I was a bit skeptical when I tried this mascara out. I have never used any Urban Decay products aside from their Naked palette and personally I have not heard much about their mascara. After trying it, I told all my friends about it. This mascara is in par with "They're Real by Benefit" (read below). The wand and the formula are very similar to the Benefit one, long lashes, great for a primer or a natural look. It also gave a very nice workable texture. The only reason Benefit's mascara got number two spot is how it does not give much of a volume. They're Real don't either, but it doesn't clump up when I apply a few coats vs the UD mascara shows signs of minor clumps after 2-3 coats. (Image)

3. High Impact Mascara by Clinique

I love Clinique products, never once have the failed me. This mascara avoids all clumpy, messy, smudgy look. It makes my lashes visibly longer and a pure, sophisticated volume. It doesn't give much of a dramatic look which is great for a everyday work wear. It gives a very fresh and clean look. It creates a perfect natural, down to earth look. I find that drawing a lash line with eyeliner gives it a bit of a more dramatic look but still on the pure side. This is my favourite mascara for a no makeup look. (Image)

2. They’re Real Mascara by Benefit

The first time I tried this mascara is from my Sephora birthday gift in 2013. This is rated my second most favourite because I use this as a base coat for my lashes or when I want a more natural look. The plastic Bristol + tip design gives a perfect and flawless apply. A tube usually last me 4-5 months since I usually use 1 coat (at most 2 coats) each time. This isn’t mascara if you are looking for more volume. This is a must in my makeup container. (Source)

1. Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced

I first got this mascara early 2014 and I fell in love. I have stocked up my entire makeup collection with this mascara. It is VERY black and added a great amount of length and volume to my lashes. The wand is a hourglass shape which really helps with reaching the corner lashes. The wetness of the formula often left my lashes clumped together. However, I found that wiping off the excess on the brush (by scraping it against to tube top) solves the problem of clumping lashes. The reason why this is my go-to mascara is the amount of volume it gives me and it also creates a perfect au natural look. Depending on where I am heading, I usually swipe on one coat for a more natural look (day time), and two-three coats for a more dramatic/bam look (going out).I wear this mascara pretty much from 9am to 6/7pm, and I have never experienced flaking or smudging. For the more dramatic look, I find the wet formula helps so much; the mascara is the best of both worlds (natural and dramatic). I find that this mascara is more volume enhancement than lengthening; although it does both, I often apply a coat of lash primer (They’re Real by Benefit) when I am want extra-long lashes. This, along with the They’re Real by Benefit, is a must in my makeup container.
